This 14-Day–Discover Uganda Gorilla – Chimpanzee Trekking Wildlife Safari covers most of Uganda’s Best Parks and Places. Wildlife Game Drives and Boat Launch Safaris. Chimpanzee Trekking, a Jungle Swamp Visit and Gorilla Trekking in 14 days – plus hiking through Bwindi Forest, dugout canoe paddling across Lake Mutanda, a visit to Mgahinga Gorilla Park and Lake Mburo Park. We can adjust the safari activities to your liking.
This Safari can be changed to a budget – moderately priced or upmarket version – different lodging choices can be seen below.
Arrival Day in Entebbe – Uganda:
Your arrival will most likely be in the evening – nighttime hours. Presently you can obtain your visa on Arrival – though an online E-Tourism Visa will soon be available. A Yellow-Fever Immunization Certificate is required. If you do not have one, you will have to get it at the airport.
The arrival takes about 45 minutes and our driver-guide will meet you outside of the building with a Kabiza Wilderness Safaris sign.
Since most likely it will be late we will take you to Entebbe which is 5 to 10 minutes from the airport to spend the night in the lodging of your choice in a budget – moderate or upmarket hotel on a bed and breakfast basis unless you arrive in the afternoon.

Day 1 to Murchison Falls National Park:
Your 14-Day–Discover Uganda Gorilla – Chimpanzee Trekking Wildlife Safari begins after Breakfast and an early departure (6:30 am) for Murchison Falls National Park in the north of Uganda. The verdant countryside will surprise, the color green is so dominant in Uganda. Much to see along the way and of course, you can stop the vehicle at any time to take some fantastic pictures for you to treasure.
Our first stop is 3 hours out of Kampala – Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary where we track Rhinos on foot – a most unusual experience with some great picture-taking opportunities for. A great way to start your Big-5 Plus Safari in the Pearl of Africa.
Here you are led by a ranger who will take you withing 10 meters of the Rhinos which in itself a most adventurous activity. The aim is to release the Rhinos back into Murchison Falls Park under heavy protections where they used to live in abundance.
Afterwards we continue to Murchison Falls – there we cross the River Nile and make our way through the Savanna to the lodge of your choice from budget to upmarket – we pick lodges on the northern side of the Nile where the wildlife is found. Paraa Lodge, Fort Murchison, Bwana Tembo Camp, Heritage Safari Lodge is on that side of the Nile.
Late Lunch – and a bit of get settling in before we take our late afternoon game drive and hopefully we will come across Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Giraffe, African Buffaloes, Antelopes of all varieties including the national symbol, the Uganda Kob, Warthogs , birds in abundance, the especially equipped safari vehicle makes it easy to take great pictures of what is around you and the driver will respond to your wishes and linger whenever you want to get those best shots via your camera.

Day 2 Murchison Falls National Park:
Breakfast at Fort Murchison and we are off for out Morning Game Drive seeing hippos, elephants, lions, leopards, antelopes, birds of all kinds including migratory ones from Europe. The wilderness of Uganda alive with it multitude of mammals, primates and you are here in the midst of it.
Relaxation and Lunch and then it is the afternoon boat ride on the River Nile up to the bottom of the falls. Lots animals as they come to water, Hippos thrashing in the river, crocodiles along the shore, herds of Elephants, Buffaloes, Antelopes, birds, monkeys.
At the bottom of the falls we disembark and hike up the side of the most powerful waterfall in the world. At the top of the Fall, we are met by the Driver-Guide and return to your lodge for the evening and Dinner.

Day 3 Murchison Falls to Kibale Forest:
Breakfast and we cross the Nile at 7 am as we are off to Kibale Forest National Park and our adventure in Primates. (There are 13 species of primates in the Park which is a rainforest jungle the only of its kind in East Africa.) Pleasant drive through the Ugandan countryside, lots of different things, the scenery will change several times along the way in dramatic fashion and the Rwenzori snow-capped Mountains will be in the distance.
Stop for Lunch at the Kon Tiki Hotel in the town of Hoima
We reach Kibale Rainforest Jungle in the late afternoon and check into the lodge you have chosen from Budget to upmarket – luxury lodges 45 minutes from the park such as Kyaninga Lodge, Ndali Lodge, and Papaya Lake Lodge.
Dinner
Optional– a nocturnal walk in the Jungle in search of animals such as Bush Babies, and Potto with spotlights to see them better and other of the wildlife that roams the forest at night.

Day 4 Kibale Forest – Chimpanzee Trekking:
A lovely morning breakfast to get you ready for a full day. Back to Kibale Forest for Primate chimpanzee tracking (trekking) experience in Uganda and of course there are other primates there such as Grey Cheeked Mangabey, Red Tailed Monkey and Red Colobus Monkeys, Blue Monkeys, Black and White Colobus Monkeys, L’Hoest’s Monkeys, Baboons and then there is the forest and its beauty and the abundant birdlife that is in the park. Kibale Forest is filled with beauty, the mystery of the rainforest, the butterflies.
What to wear and bring Chimpanzee Trekking: A daypack with some snacks, 2 liter of water, long trousers. long-sleeved shirt, light rain jacket, hat, hiking boots.
The trek is about 3 hours plus in length and you are one hour with a chimpanzee group.
Option: You can do a Chimpanzee Habituation Experience which is all-day with a chimpanzee group. You are accompanied by Researchers, rangers, trackers and you will see a lot more than Chimpanzees, but other primates, birds, butterflies, mammals.
Lunch
In the afternoon it is a visit to nearby Bigodi Swamp Wetland, 135 plus kinds of birds can be found here amidst the papyrus, wild palms and polita figs. You will also see many monkeys here and even spot the rare sitatunga antelope. You might even find some chimpanzees.
Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary is a jungle swamp that is a sight to behold. Much of your hike through it is on a crude board-walk made from planks that keeps you above the swamp. The sights and sounds in the swamp are an experience in themselves.
Often you can see chimpanzees here, other primates, birds including the large, blue Turaco, butterflies, flowers, plants, trees such as palms and more.
You are led by a knowledgeable guide from the Bigodi Community and there is not much that you will miss during your 3 hours here.

Day 5 Queen Elizabeth Park :
We move on to Queen Elizabeth National Park where we take the 27 kilometer explosion crater drive – one of the most scenic drives in all of Uganda – it is one of the highlights of your time in Queen Elizabeth Park – with scenes like out of National Geographic – simply most amazing and you can also see some wildlife here such as elephants, buffaloes and a leopard once in a while.
You can see the Rwenzori Mountains of the Moon, into the Congo in the distance, Lake George and Lake Albert, the Western Rift escarpment and more.
Afterwards we check into the lodge of your choice in Queen Elizabeth Park in the Mweya Area – there are many to pick from – budget to luxury – the choice depends on you and your pocket book. We can assist you in choosing the right lodge for you based on our experience and client feedback.
Lunch
At 3 pm it is a boat ride on Kazinga Channel a short ride away, home of the largest concentration of Hippos in Africa, Uganda wildlife such as Elephants, Buffaloes, Giraffes, and a multitude of birds, a fantastic introduction to the Park.
Kazinga Channel is another one of those Queen Elizabeth Highlights that you do not want to miss. The sounds and sights of this natural channel, the fishermen plying their trade, their villages on the shore with wildlife passing through them.
Late in the afternoon you might even see some predators coming to the channel to lap some water – Kazinga Channel is abundant wildlife, birds, reptiles and gorgeous scenery.

Day 6 Queen Elizabeth Park:
Early breakfast and off for a morning of Chimpanzee Tracking and other primates at Kyambura Gorge for chimpanzee tracking. A large population of chimpanzee exists in Maramagambo Forest in Queen Elizabeth Park, but the only habituated (being used to humans) is found in Kyambura Gorge.
Besides Chimpanzees one can find Black and White Colobus Monkeys, Vervet Monkeys, Olive Baboons, you might even find the red-tailed Monkeys. Kyambura is also a great place for birdwatchers and you can spot the Black Bee Eater and Blue Bellied Kingfisher along with many forest birds. (Please note – this chimpanzee tracking experience can be removed and another activity put in its place.
Kyambura Gorge is more than Chimpanzee – it is discovering a geological wonder – part of the Western Rift – a gash in the savanna – another world – a lost valley according to BBC.
Trekking the Kyambura Gorge is well worth the time and is a one of a kind experience.

Another Game Drive in Queen Elizabeth Park. You never know what you will discover on a game drive at Queen Elizabeth National Park, there are some of the fabulous crater lakes, you encounter lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes and many other mammals and birds and some savanna monkeys.

Day 7 Queen Elizabeth Park:
This morning we check out after leisurely breakfast and shift to the Ishasha sector of the Park. This is the less visited sector of the park and yet it is home to the tree-climbing Lions, a growing Elephant and Buffalo Population.
The Ishasha Plains are well worth your visit.
Check into the lodge of your choice. There are budget, moderate, upmarket lodges available. You can pick the lodge of your choice below.

Afternoon game drive in search of the tree climbing lions of Ishasha and other wildlife found here. You are accompanied by a Uganda Wildlife Authority Ranger who will know the area as does your driver guide.
The safari vehicle as a pop-up roof that assists in taking photos and allows you to see the wildlife better that you come across on your game drive.

Day 8 Bwindi Impenetrable Forest:

The last drive in search of Tree Climbing Lions and other wildlife in the Ishasha region of Queen Elizabeth Park.
Then it is off for a short drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – the Buhoma Area of the park. Buhoma has the most lodging choices in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for you to pick from – starting with Budget up to Luxury Lodges. We check into the lodge you have chosen.

Afternoon, discover the forest with the Batwa Pygmies who have lived here for over 500,000 years. They will show you the forest through the eyes of the first people of the Forest on a Batwa Experience.
We need to start the Batwa Experience by 2 pm. Take a daypack – bottled water, hiking boots, long trousers and a long-sleeved shirt.

Day 9 Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – Gorilla Trekking:
This is one of the biggest days of your life, Tracking (Trekking) the endangered Mountain Gorillas, an early breakfast, a packed lunch and off it is to an orientation and then a long hike up to a full day tracking your group of Mountain Gorillas.
It can take up to 8 hours, but is usually shorter. All well worth it, the cost of the Mountain Gorilla fades into the distance as you view these magnificent creatures up close.
Things needed for your gorilla trek – light daypack, packed lunch, bottled water, long-sleeved shirt, jeans, light hiking boots, hat is good, poncho or rain-jacket, cotton gardening gloves to pull yourself up on vines, branches.
The long clothing is for protection from nettles, thorns, mosquitoes and more.
You can engage the services of a porter who will free you to enjoy the Gorilla Trek, a walking stick that you can purchase here is also a very good idea.
Optional Gorilla Habituation Experience – Rushaga:
We can arrange that instead trekking Gorillas in the Buhoma area you do a Gorilla Habituation Experience in the Rushaga area of Bwindi Forest. This is an all-day trek and 4 hours with a gorilla family being habituated. The Gorilla Habituation Experience Permit is 1,500 us compared to 1 hour with the Gorillas on a trek at 600 usd for the permit.

Day 10 Hike through Bwindi Forest to Nkuringo:
Breakfast
Today you hike through Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – this is a 5 to 7 hour hike depending on which trail that you choose.
This is the first of a two-day hike to Kisoro and includes paddling in a dugout canoe across Lake Mutanda with the Virunga Volcanoes all around.
Today you will experience this UNESCO World Heritage Site with its primates which include chimpanzees but are not habituated here, a multitude of rare birds, some mammals which on very rare occasions can include Forest Elephants.
As you reach the southern area of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest you will see some stunning scenery.
You will need the same clothing as for a Gorilla Trek, a daypack, packed lunch, bottled water, snacks. Your luggage will be taken by the driver guide to the end of the trail to meet you.
The Driver-Guide will take you to the lodging that you have chosen.

Day 11 – Nkuringo to Kisoro Hike:
Breakfast
The Hike continues, however it is easier since most of it is going downhill through villages to the scenic Lake Mutanda. There will be many places where you can take some great pictures along the way to Lake Mutanda.
This is one of the most scenic hikes in Uganda and you are on the trail for about 1/2 a day to Mutanda Lake Resort where you stop for refreshments and lunch. The resort is on a peninsula jutting out into the Lake.
You are met by the dugout canoes and guides and paddle most of the way toward Kisoro – Dugout Canoes are still made as they always have been, from one log and are a form of transport on Lakes like Mutanda and Bunyonyi.
The hike ends up in Kisoro where your driver Guide and meets you to take you to your lodge of choice – Mutanda Lake Resort or the upmarket, one of a kind Chameleon Hills Lodge.

Day 12 Lake Mutanda – Relax and Chill Out

Day 13 – Lake Mburo Park: Early Morning Breakfast and it is off for Lake Mburo National Park where we check into the lodge of choice.

Afternoon boat ride to view Hippos, Crocodiles, 3 kinds of otters Impala, Eland, Buffaloes Zebras on the shore, birds in abundance such as African Fin foot, Papyrus, Bush Shrike and many other (315 kinds of birds).
Lake Mburo is a continuance of the Tanzanian Plains into Uganda and it is Savannah beauty dotted with acacia trees is simply lovely to behold and it is one of only two parks with Zebras and a must for Zebra lovers. There are only two kinds of primates here the Vervet Monkey and Baboons.

Day 14 Lake Mburo:

Morning Nature Walk to a salt lick on foot where you will see lots of wildlife gathering, there is also a hide there from where you can take some great photos of the wildlife below.
The nature walk is guided and starts at the Lake and goes inward to the salt lick. Lake Mburo Park is the only park where you can take guided walks on foot anywhere in the park.
The wildlife that you can see here include Zebras, Giraffes, Eland and Topi Antelopes, Warthogs, Bush Pigs and other wildlife, there are also forest and savanna birds to be seen.
We drive toward Entebbe and have Lunch at the Igongo Cultural Center – you can choose to see the exhibits at an extra cost.
Stop the Equator and have your pictures taken – buy some souvenirs
If time permits – we can take you to a restaurant where you can have dinner before your flight out.
Drop off at Entebbe Airport for Departure.
