Day 1 – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest:
The 6 Day Gorilla-Chimpanzee-Wildlife Safari in Uganda begins: We leave Entebbe or Kampala early in the morning after breakfast at your Hotel and take the 9-hour Drive to the Buhoma Area of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
Alternate Starting Point That saves Drive-Time:
Fly into Kigali, Rwanda, the Gateway to Southwest Uganda and drive to the Rushaga, Nkuringo areas of southern Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
This is a 3 1/2 hour drive and saves you the wear and tear coming from Entebbe or Kampala. At the end of the Safari fly out of Entebbe since Lake Mburo park is only 4 hours of drive time from there.
Drive toward Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park through the Ugandan Countryside with lunch on the way to the ancient forest.
We arrive late afternoon in the Buhoma area of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and check into the Haven lodge that you have chosen. From Kigali, you will arrive at lunchtime and check into Bwindi Jungle Lodge near Rushaga and Nkuringo

Haven Lodge-upper-Midrange $$$:
The Haven Lodge which is a community project along with Buhoma Community Rest Camp is the newest lodge in the Buhoma area. It consists of three cottages, one of them being a family cottage that sleeps four.
This is a lower priced upmarket lodge in Buhoma that was built with the assistance of the US Government which often helps Tourism in various ways in Uganda.
All cottages come with bath, the trained staff knows about customer service and the food is a harmonious blend of Western – Asian and African dishes that will delight you.
All cottages and the main lodge have an excellent view of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest which is just before you. You are also close to the park headquarters for the gorilla tracking orientation.

Day 2 – Gorilla Trekking – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest:
Your Big Day of Gorilla Tracking has arrived. trekking adventure at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest begins after an early breakfast and then a pre-tracking (trekking) briefing to go over guidelines for you and your safety.
The Gorilla tracking begins soon afterward and can be from a short walk to an all-day hike through at times rough terrain.
Here is what you will need for today’s trek: a daypack, a packed lunch fr omthe lodge, 2 liters of water, long trousers, long-sleeved shirt, rain-jacket or poncho, hat, hiking boots, tough gardening gloves.
You can engage the services of a porter and help the local community and you can buy a walking stick.
The Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Gorilla tracking (trekking) day is certainly the of a lifetime and something that remains with you for a long time and well worth the cost and effort involved. No one has ever complained.
Gorilla Habituation Experience Option: Instead of a Gorilla Trek you can take the all-day Gorilla Habituation Experience where you spend 4 hours with a gorilla family being habituated. The Permit fee is 1500 USD instead of 600 USD. Adjustment in lodging will have to be made since it takes place in the Rushaga Area of Bwindi Forest.
After the Gorilla Trek you can relax or take an optional – not included, Village Walk in Buhoma, or rent a bike and take a bike ride through the area or you just might want to relax for the afternoon.

Day 3 – Tree Climbing Lions – Queen Elizabeth Park:
Breakfast and we take the 1 1/2 hour drive to Ishasha from Buhoma (from Rushaga – 3 hours plus) where we go on a game drive in search of the tree-climbing lions.
Ishasha is the best area in East Africa where you can readily see the famous lions, but there is more, such as elephants, buffaloes, countless of antelopes including the Topi Antelope.
Ishasha is the less frequented area of the park which means that there are not as many people – an abundance of wildlife and of course the tree climbing lions.
The Lions go out on the hunt at night and sleep the day away in the Fig Trees. From early in the morning to the late afternoon, tree-climbing lions are found here.
Lunch at Savannah Resort
Continue to the Mweya area of the park which is a 2 hour plus drive where we take during the late afternoon the 27 kilometer Explosion Crater Drive which is one of the most scenic drives in all of Uganda – there are various kinds of craters you will see here.
You are at the highest point in the park with incredible views all around including the Rwenzori Mountains of the Moon, down the escarpment to the savanna and Lake George and Lake Edward.

Day 4 – Queen Elizabeth Park – Chimpanzee Tracking – Boat Safari:
Breakfast
We are off to the famed Kyambura Gorge, that gash in the Savannah that has been called “the Lost Valley” by BBC, others call it the Valley of the Apes. At the bottom of the Gorge, you will be tracking Chimpanzees for the next three to four hours.
It is an amazing place, this valley of Apes with its chimpanzees, monkeys, exotic birds and mammals. Cross rivers, hike through the thick forest until you hear the cries of the chimpanzees in the distance.
Chimpanzee Tracking is done with a relative small group of trekkers that you will join as you spend your hour observing the chimpanzees, playing, eating, grooming and more.
Better Chance of seeing the Chimpanzees in the wild is Kalinzu Forest – Kyambura Gorge has more scenic wonders, Kalinzu Forest is the better place for Chimpanzee Treks. The choice is yours.
Lunch
In the middle of the afternoon you are in for a mot special treat, the Boat Safari on the Kazinga Channel, a highlight of your safari in Queen Elizabeth Park. You move along slowly toward Lake Edward on this natural channel and you can see Elephants, hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, antelopes on the shore, along with hundreds of birds including Pelicans.
After the two-hour-plus boat ride, we will take another game drive. Each game drive in the African Wild of Uganda is different and you never know what animal you will find as the vehicle moves slowly down the game track.
Our Driver Guide and the Uganda Wildlife Authority Ranger will help you in pointing that leopard or lion that is hiding, not much will be missed on your game drive in Queen Elizabeth Park.

Day 5 – Lake Mburo National Park:
Breakfast and we move to Lake Mburo National Park.
Lake Mburo National Park is the perfect place to break a long journey at one of the most delightful places in Uganda. We check into Eagle’s Nest which is high on a ridge with a splendid view of the Park and lakes below. Your room is a furnished cottage with thatching over it, the bathroom is in the back. You can sit on the deck and enjoy the sunset.
Lunch
Afternoon Wildlife Game, here at Lake Mburo National Park you can see Burchell Zebras, Giraffes, the large Eland Antelopes, Leopards and you are fortunate you might see a lion, they have made a return here, often at night, you can hear their roar.
Lake Mburo is a small park, however it has become more popular, especially after Giraffes were brought here from Murchison Falls Park, making Lake Mburo Park, the only park in Western Uganda where you find the Rothschild Giraffes, which are the tallest giraffes found in Africa.
Dinner
Meal Plan: Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner
This mid-ranged priced Safari comes with a view of the park that is beyond stunning. That view you can even enjoy while swimming in the pool that is at the lodge. The rooms are comfortable with en-suite bath, The main Lodge has a comfortable bat-lounge area and the main dining where you take in the tasty meals that are provided here.
Activities offered by the lodge include biking and hiking, cultural visits in nearby homesteads and villages.
Rwakobo Rock Lodge is the best mid-range lodge at Lake Mburo National Park and it comes with more than what other lodges and that includes the food.
It is the lodge that we use for our mid-range Safari Clients and we have not had any complaints thus far which is unusual with most lodges.
Day 6 – Return to Kampala – Entebbe:
Breakfast and a morning boat Safari on Lake Mburo where you can see hippos, crocodiles, otters, wildlife coming to water, water birds, on rare occasions you will spot a shoebill stork.
Check out and continue to Kampala or Entebbe, stopping for lunch at Igongo Cultural Center, the equator and the Royal Drum Makers – arriving in Kampala or Entebbe during the late afternoon.
