Lunch at Savannah Resort
Afternoon Tree Climbing Lion Trek. The Lions climb up the Fig Trees during the day for never figured out scientific reasons. It is suspected that they want to avoid the insects on the grounds; others cite culturally ingrained habits. What we do know is that they climb into the Fig Trees each day and spend up to 15 hours there and that t, his is the best sure sighting place (most of the time) in East Africa. You will also find large herds of mixed Forest and Savannah Elephants. You can tell the difference by counting their toes, looking at the forest elephant’s smaller size, tusks that are straight and hairier. Most cannot tell the difference but Forest Elephant

Day 4 – Queen Elizabeth Park:
Breakfast and we drive to the Kyambura Gorge for Chimpanzee Trekking. The Kyambura Gorge is part of the Western Rift, and as you come near it, you will find this huge gash in the savanna, that gash in the Kyambura Gorge, part of the Western Rift. It has been called the Lost Valley on a BBC program and is also called the “Valley of the Apes.”
After an orientation, you go out with guides and trackers to track our closest cousins, the chimpanzees.
Like the gorillas, they are habituated, which means that they are used to human beings and do not scamper off when we show up in their area. Again, like with Gorilla Tracking, chimpanzee tracking is another one of a kind encounter.
One hour with the chimpanzees of Kyambura Gorge another fantastic experience in your five days of Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Wildlife on Safari in the Pearl of Africa.
Alternate Chimpanzee Trekking in Kalinzu Forest.
Kalinzu Forest is an excellent place for Chimpanzee Trekking, and most often it is the same distance and drive-time as going to Kyambura Gorge from the Mweya area. Chimpanzee Trekking is a more sure thing in Kalinzu Forest, which is considered the 2nd best Chimpanzee Trekking location in Uganda where you are more likely to see Chimpanzees than in the Kyambura Gorge. Kyambura Gorge is a scenic wonder and is worth the trek even without Chimpanzee sightings.
Lunch
Afternoon a wildlife boat safari on Kazinga Channel at 3 pm. The boat will be moving along the banks of the channel toward Lake Edward where you will see the largest concentration of hippos in Africa, hundreds of birds and usually a bird watcher will see over 40 species of birds on the two-hour boat safari – herds of elephants coming down to water, more massive herds during the dry season, buffalo herds and late in the afternoon you find an occasional predator coming to water before going out on a night’s hunt.
The boat safari is a slow-moving affair so that you get the best opportunities for taking pictures – the boat safari is one of the highlights of your visit to Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda.
Returning visitors always want to revisit the Kazinga Channel on a Boat Safari.
