a Chimpanzee Trek or an all-day Chimpanzee Habituation Experience it is essential that you wear the right clothing and bring the right things for your comfort.
What to wear while Chimpanzee Trekking? Chimpanzee Treks, Chimpanzee Habituation Experience take place in tropical rainforests such as Kibale Forest, Kalinzu Forest, Semiliki, Budongo Forest in the Kyambura Gorge Uganda and in Nyungwe Afro-Montane Forest in Rwanda.
It may seem that one should wear clothing befitting the Tropics and not what is suggested by us.
When going on a Chimp Trek take a look at what rangers, guides are wearing. There are no shorts, no T-shirts, no sneakers. It is all about protecting themselves while in the forest with long-sleeved shirts, long trousers, boots, in their case Wellies – rubber boots, hat.

You will need a waterproof Daypack:
Chimp Trekking takes place in tropical forests such as Kibale Forest. It is best to protect your camera equipment, have a place for bottled water, 1 liter for a normal Chimpanzee Trek – 3 liters for an all-day chimpanzee habituation experience.
For the all-day Chimpanzee habituation, you will need a packed lunch, snacks like dried fruit com that you can buy in local supermarkets, granola bars.
Daypacks are a must have for Chimpanzee Treks. Chimpanzee Trekking is easier than a gorilla trek, a Chimpanzee Trek is shorter, except the all-day habituation experience, but a daypack is still best to have along.
The daypack comes in handy on a chimpanzee trek especially if it is an all-day chimpanzee habituation experience since you need lunch snacks and bottled water.
What kind of Shoes should I Wear:
Visitors to Uganda make the mistake of wearing sandals, flip-flops, sneakers, shoes that are not sturdy for a Chimpanzee Trek that is over 3 hours long.
Hiking Boots that are waterproof or sturdy shoes are the best choice for any hiking, trekking, climbing in Uganda.
Wellies – Gum-Boots: Uganda Wildlife Authority Rangers wear Wellies – or Gum-Boots that have treads on them. Cover your lower legs, easy to clean and even visitors have started to use them.
The reason for waterproof boots is that chimpanzee treks take place in rainforests where it can rain anytime, normally short showers, not just during the rainy seasons.

The emphasis is on comfortable and protective clothing from undergarments to trousers.
Forget what other people may wear, they will be swatting flies, mosquitoes away from their skin, get scratched by branches, stung by nettles, pricked by thorns, while you dressed right for Chimpanzee Trekking will be just fine.
