One of Fort Portal’s finest – Ndali Lodge – Kibale Forest
Words alone cannot describe Ndali Lodge you have to experience it
Ndali Lodge – Kibale Forest–consistent luxury quality – stunning location – superior food and service, it does not get any better.
Ndali Lodge – Kibale Rainforest orest is unlike any other lodge in Uganda – it is unique and the experience here cannot be replicated elsewhere. Overlooking the stunning Nyinambuga Crater Lake (extinct volcano) while in the distance you can see the ancient Rwenzori Mountains of the Moon. The Lodge is family owned and was originally owned by Captain Mark Price – beyond the lodge is a 100 acre farm – tea plantations and more – you are surrounded by beauty everywhere.
The Lodge itself it made up of the main building and 8 lovely cottages – the lodge was built with local stones and thatched roofs – each cottage has a veranda with splendid views- the interior of both the lodge and cottages are tastefully furnished, the garden is a beautiful place where you can discover a multitude of birds, flowers, plants, shrubs and more all against the backdrop of the beautiful surroundings of the lake and the distant Mountains of the Moon.
There are no noisy generators to break the serenity of the place– the most delightful dinners are served by festive candlelight and your cottage has some solar lights and candles – quite different but you will find it most comforting and relaxing. Even though there is no electricity your bath water will be hot and plenty of it – the water is brought up from the lake using a system that was developed in 1770 in England.
Enjoy Breakfast on the veranda overlooking the lake – home made bread, honey from the wild, passion fruit juice squeezed from the fruit grown right there. A full English Breakfast – Coffee from the nearby Rwenzori Mountains, Tea from plantations surrounding the lodge.
You can go down to a jetty in a place that is secluded and peaceful where you can spot various birds, here you can enjoy the peaceful crater lake, take a dip, soak up some sun and much more. Back at the lodge is a pristine swimming pool where you can a swim any time of the day or lounge around with a good book.
There are guided walk through the farm, you can take a boat ride, you can take walk to visit the Vanilla Plantation (Tom & Jerry’s Ice-Cream is now using Uganda Vanilla) and Vanilla factory, you can also visit a waterfall – the possibilities are unlimited.
One of the main reasons people come here and stay at Ndali Lodge is Kibale Forest Chimpanzee Tracking and a visit to Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary – both are major tourist attractions and Kibale Rainforest is where they Central African Jungle of the Congo meets East Africa and home to more chimpanzees than any other location in Africa and Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary must be experienced with its fauna and flora – there are not many places you can visit a jungle swamp in East Africa.
Ndali Lodge – Kibale Forest is a perfect place to come to to take in nature and to chill out, it is a celebratory kind of place that will delight you during your stay here. I has the charm and elegance of years gone by made real in the 21st Century
