Rough Guides picked Uganda as the 4th Best Country to visit in 2017
Rough Guides picks Uganda as the 4th Best Country to visit – The Pearl of Africa does it again -Uganda receives another Accolade in 2017 as Rough Guides picks Uganda as the 4th Best Country to visit. In addition to Lonely Planet picking Uganda as Best Country to visit in 2012, National Geographic picking Uganda as one of the Best Destinations. This is in addition to the countless write-ups, TV reports that highlight the Pearl of Africa – Uganda.
Uganda once again receives an award due to its scenic wonders, primates, rainforest jungles. Those such the Rough Guides, Lonely Planet, National Geographic, CNN all recognize that Africa’s Pearl is Uganda, that it is a travel destination unlike other East African countries such as Tanzania, Kenya, and even Rwanda – the reason is simple, Uganda is Africa condensed into a small country.
It was Rough Guides that picked Uganda as one of the top 10 countries to visit in 2017. It was no Ugandan Government agency such as the Uganda Tourism Board, the Uganda Wildlife Authority, not even the private sector Association of Uganda Tour Operators that caused the pick. It was because of what one discovers on a Safari in Uganda. It is because Uganda is one of the friendliest nations in all of Africa – it is truly the Pearl of Africa waiting to be discovered.

We, as a Ugandan Tour Operator, are very grateful that the Pearl of Africa was once again recognized as one of the Best Travel Destinations in the world with the likes of India, Scotland, Canada, and others. No other East African Country was on the list. The only other African named was Namibia at Number – 9.
Why does Uganda continuously receive accolades from Major Travel Organizations such as Lonely Planet, National Geographic, and now Rough Guides – for the same reason that Winston Churchill became enamored with Africa –
“For magnificence, for variety of form and color, for profusion of brilliant life — bird, insect, reptile, beast — for vast scale — Uganda is truly “the Pearl of Africa.”
The Kingdom of Uganda is a fairy tale. The scenery is different, the climate is different and most of all, the people are different from anything elsewhere to be seen in the whole range of Africa….what message I bring back….concentrate on Uganda.
Uganda is from end to end a ‘beautiful garden’ where ‘staple food’ of the people grows almost without labour. Does it not sound like a paradise on earth? It is the Pearl of Africa.” Winston Churchill – My African Journey – 1908.
Uganda is making efforts on its own to get the word out in the US, the UK, Europe that indeed Uganda is a choice Safari Destination for the Africa Traveler, to once again make Uganda the premier East African Safari Destination it was, and yes, more people are coming to visit the Pearl of Africa on Safari.
