The 3 day Rwenzori Mountains of the Moon Mini-Hike:
This trail is not a foothill hike but ascends up to the 3000-meter level – It is in the Northern Area of the Mountains of the Moon – the difficulty level is from moderate to difficult. It is the Northern Pass that is still used by villagers that live here.
The actual hike is seven to eight hours in length. You are guided by mountaineering specialists working with the Uganda Wildlife Authority.
The Trail starts near Fort Portal and ends in the Semliki Valley near the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo where your hike in Semliki National Park and Wildlife Reserve where the terrain is Savannah and Jungle.
You can easily make this a 5-day hiking safari instead of the present 3 days one by adding hiking activities in the Semliki Valley and day-hikes in the Rwenzori Mountains of the Moon.
This is another experiential Hiking Safari in the African Wild that gets you out of the vehicle and into the African Bush in Lake Mburo National Park, the closest Savannah Park to Kampala.
Enjoy Moderate or upmarket lodging in the park, take some hikes, a boat-launch Safari, game drive and you have a full itinerary at Lake Mburo.
The nice thing about a safari in Lake Mburo Park, there is minimal drive-times to get here and to return to Kampala.
