3 Day Fly-In Gorilla Habituation Experience Safari takes place in Rushaga in the Southern area of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. It is a 1 1/2 hour flight each way. Your Gorilla Encounter is a full-day Trek. The Gorilla Habituation Experience means that you are for 4 hours in the presence of the gorillas. There are only a total of four trekkers plus rangers, porters, and researcher
You have more time with the gentle giants of the forest. You are not an observer but a participant in the habituation process, which takes two years or longer. The Gorilla Habituation Experience is a time of learning that goes beyond a regular Gorilla Trek.
You have no long drive-times but can enjoy Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, CNN’s 2019 most beautiful Place in the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Mountain Gorillas.
Option: fly into Kigali, where we meet you and take you to the Rushaga area in Uganda, which is a three-hour drive.

Day 1 – Fly to Kisoro – South Bwindi Impenetrable Forest:
The 3 Day Fly-In Gorilla Habituation Experience Safari begins. Our Tour Guide will pick you up early at your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala for your flight to Kisoro with Aerolink Airlines. We suggest staying in Entebbe for a shorter drive to the airport. We can arrange a hotel for you.
Early pick up at your hotel and take you to Entebbe International Airport for your flight to Kisoro. We should be there one hour before the flight departure
Aerolink Airlines has provided safe and secure flights to Safari Destinations in Uganda. A Cessna Grand-Caravan is used for your flight. The trip is 1 1/2 hours from Entebbe to Kisoro. The latter part of the flight is quite scenic as you fly over the Gorilla Highlands of Uganda.
Kisoro Arrival: Our driver-guide will meet you upon landing at Kisoro airstrip. The drive to either Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge or Gorilla Safari lodge will take 45 minutes to one hour, depending on road conditions.

The lodge is located in Nkuringo, a quaint village at the edge of the southern area of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The name Clouds Mountain is most appropriate since, at nearly 7,000 feet above sea level, it is the highest lodge in Uganda. It is also one of Uganda’s most exclusive and luxurious lodges.
Sweeping views of the Virunga Volcano Chain and the hilly Bwindi Impenetrable Forest await you. The lodge gives you that extra touch for your Gorilla Encounter Experience.
The Lodge is built of local volcanic stone, making CloudsMountain an attractive lodge with a vast, open main building and awe-inspiring views across the volcanoes of Rwanda and DR Congo. The exposed wooden beams and floor-to-ceiling windows, the lounge is full of large sofas and chairs with giant squashy cushions in shades of cream and terracotta. The dining room is adjacent to the lounge with solid wood furnishings and paintings, sculptures by renown Ugandan Artists.
There are ten cottages, two of which have two bedrooms. All of them have a living room and a fireplace to add warmth during those colder Bwindi Nights. Your personal butler and maid provide service.
The meals here are most often almost celebratory occasions with African-Fusion Meals that are fantastic. Local drinks, including house wines, are included.

The Upmarket Gorilla Safari Lodge:
Gorilla Safari Lodge is a relaxed upmarket lodge on the boundary line of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest(Just next to the starting point of trekking the gorillas).
Gorilla Safari Lodge offers its guests luxury accommodation in eighteen spacious cottages, each providing the perfect setting to relax after an exciting day of trekking. The well-appointed cottages all have solar-powered lighting, en-suite bathroom with hot and cold water and flush toilets and individual verandahs offering excellent views of the unspoiled tropical rainforest.
Five of the cottages have two rooms (both en-suite and featuring a cozy fireplace) with an inter-joining door making them the ideal choice for families or larger groups of people traveling together. There is also the spa where you can have a massage after the Gorilla Encounter. The main lodge includes a restaurant, bar, lounge and campfire area overlooking the forest.
Afternoon -Buniga Forest Walk with the Batwa Pygmies:
The Buniga Batwa Forest Walk is an interactive Hike with the First People of the Forest the Batwa Pygmies.
They have lived in the forest for thousands of years until they were evicted in 1991 as parks were formed. This was done at the insistence of Conservationists and the Government in 1991.
This Forest Walk was started by the Africa Conservation Society. realizing that preserving the Culture and Ways of the Batwa who lived in harmony with nature and leaving a small ecological footprint.
They will show you how hey hunted and what they gathered, including medicine for various ailments, some of the workings quite effectively. This is a 2-hour activity. A Batwa Village Visit can be added, time permitting.

Day 2 – Gorilla Habituation Experience Trek:
Gorilla Gear & Wear Needed:
You will need a Waterproof Daypack, worn-in Hiking Boot, thick socks, long trousers (tuck them into sock on day of trek), long-sleeved shirt, light rain jacket, hat, sturdy gardening gloves. Good Insect Repellent (flies, ants, even wasps which are rare), sunscreen, some granola or energy bars.
Protect Camera lenses in Ziploc bags or a shower cap. unless you are a birder, there is no need for binoculars. You will not miss the Gorillas.
Have a Sweater or Sweatshirt for the cooler evenings and mornings.
The Clothing we recommend is for your protection as you hike through Bwindi. Nettles are common, thorny bushes, brush that can scratch you are part of the Encounter with the Gentle Giants of the Forest.
We provide you with . Porter Services and Walking Sticks along with bottled water are all provided for by Kabiza Wilderness Safaris, and your driver will handle it.
The Gorilla Habituation Experience:
This is an all-day Trek which includes 4-hours with your Gorilla Family on the actual Gorilla Habituation Experience. The rest of the day is your trek in and your trek out. On this trek, we suggest that participants prepare for it by taking walks and hikes in their home country. It will take a moderate level of fitness
Porters, that assist you will make a big difference on this trek. A reason that we automatically supply the services of a porter. The length of the total trek on your day depends on the location of the gorilla family.
They do not move more than three kilometers per day, but that can be up to a ridge or down a steep valley.
After your time is up to you, hike back to the trailhead with guides.

Day 3 – Return to Entebbe via Aerolink:
Continue to Kisoro where you will have an early lunch and afterward fly back to Entebbe, where our Tour Guide will meet you to either arrange for your transfer to your flight home or to a hotel that we can arrange for you.

In 2019 the scenery of Mgahinga Gorilla Park’s Volcanoes, as seen from Lake Mutanda, became the “Third in the World Must Photograph Locations.” Many of our Clients spend a day or two at the Chameleon Hill Lodge. It is Africa’s funkiest Lodge with its bright colors and Fairy Tale Castle Theme.
Chameleon Hill Lodge is an upmarket Lodge with one of the best views anywhere. It is the perfect way to end your Gorilla Trekking Safari in Uganda. The lodge is close to the border and just 2 1/2 hours from Kigali, Rwanda.
Lake Mutanda is a pristine Lake with emerald Isles framed by the brooding Volcanoes. One of our clients exclaimed that it was the most beautiful lake he had ever seen.
You can enjoy a Sundowner Boat ride here having Uganda’s drink of Choice, Uganda Waragi, with a Krest Bitter Lemon Soda. You can try your hand paddling a dugout canoe. Birding Walk, island discovery boat rides can be done here, among other things such as village walk and nature trails along Lake Mutanda.
